New to Smartphones....have questions

Hi everyone my name is mike and I have recently graduated from school and I am starting my own business. I am in the market for a smart phone and I have some questions...I have pretty much narrowed it down to either the motorola q or the palm treo 700p. My question is about "push" email. I keep hearing about chatter mail...is push e-mail something you get from a third party that you pay extra for?? Is there a book or site that can explain all this smartphone lingo for me??

Push email is a service that puts email instantly onto your phone. Most of the phone companies support some sort of push implementation. My recommendation to most folks is to skip push an just use IMAP folders. If you really want to get your email quickly, just check every 5 min or so.

If you are connecting to a corporate server running Blackberry's enterprise server OR to an MS Exchange server, you can configure push.
