Hi there,
Well, I got screwed on ebay. I am so disappointed. But it's time to move on. I purchased a used Audiovox PPC4100 for my husband because I like mine so much, but it came with pixels out on the screen. I'm thinking of finding another used unit to buy which may have a screen that I can use to use as a replacement. I haven't found any directions on how to replace these screens myself. Does anyone have any idea how difficult it is to do so, or any resources on the net? I can't afford to send it off and have it repaired. I could have bought a brand new one for $115.00 and repairs on the thing cost $139.00. I should have bought the new one!
Before I got too deep in trying to repair the unit, I would just buy the new one. Chalk it up as an ebay learning experience. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but opening up one of these devices without experience can lead to more inoperative features (that's how I learned, and I only very rarely will open up a unit anymore.). Especially that this is a gift, I would just get a new one.
Try to recoup some funds by selling the unit for parts on ebay.
Good luck.
