Hello everyone,
Not sure if anyone cares about this out there but there is a design flaw in the hx2755 that HP has not responded to (at least me) as far as a fix.
Some of you that have experienced intermittant connection problems with your CF card slot. I tried a new hardware upgrade (through the CF slot) to allow a USB connection. However I found out the hard way that the power cycles drastically enough to cause a conneciton issue. Here is a comment from tech support at the company where I purchased the USB expansion:
HP iPAQ WM2003 hx2700, hx2400 and hx2100 were release in Q4 2004, and replaced in Q3 2005 with WM2005 hx2790, hx2490 and hx2190 upgrades. The hx2700, hx2400 and hx2100 series CF slot VCC power cycles up to 3.3volts and back down to 1.8 volts and then back up to 3.3 volts. We have confirmed this to be the case with a series of test using CF Memory cards.
A CF + I/O card expects the CF slot VCC to supply a constant voltage of 3.3Volts. An unstable CF Slot VCC affects the software ability, to read the CF+ I/O card CIS (Card Information Structure) information. The result is a plug and play error. We did download their "CF+ I/O" firmware update with no affect.
So as you can see there is a CF connection issue, and there is no fix. I guess thats what you get when you change vendors, have poor Quality controls, Poorly written requirements, or all three!
When the Ipaq has not been used for a couple of hours, it looses the connection to the Compact Flash card, and become very slow.
Sometime I need to do a soft reset. But most of the time, I can just remove the card, and insert it again. I have the same problem with all the Compact Flash cards I have ever used on this Ipaq.
I am experiencing this issue with the Ipaq 2790. I am using a using a Sealevel SIO-485 CP serial card to communicate with a electronic device via a rs485 port.
After a while the communication stops working. Unplugging and reinserting the CF card solves the issue.
This characteristics of this issue seems similar to the issue presented in this post.
Did you find a fix for the issue? Is there anyway to reinitialize the CF card from code?
