wifi and verizon

well, first of all "hi" I'm a new member here.

I just got my Audiovox xv6700 in the mail today and had a question about the integrated wifi. I was able to connect to my wireless network at home with no problems before I went in to activate the phone. When I went into the Verizon store they told me that I could be charged for any data transfer, even if it was on my own wireless network I use for my laptop (no cell towers involved)... were they just full of it and was that just a technique to sell me the data plan, or does verizon really charge for bandwidth they don't controll/own?

Thanks!

When connecting through wifi, there will be no usage for Verizon to measure and bill. They may wish they could bill you, but there is no way to do so unless the meter is running. Just be certain you are connecting through a wifi AP and not through a cellular carrier signal.

alright thanks. The guy sounded unsure about anything I asked him - really doubt he knew what he was doing.

Is there any way for me to make sure I'm only using wi-fi? I am really new to pocket PC's

Just goto Settings|Connections. Click connections, then manage my existing connections. Delete the connection labeled Data Network with #777 as the number. No more cell data.

it may not have propperly installed the connection then, it shows under the connections tab when you are in there manage existing connections, the way to check to see if they are deleted is to go to a page with your WIFI off and see if it will load, make sure you go to a page that has virtually nothing on it like google.com/m, and it will at most cost you like 15 cents if you still have the cell line connection still enabled.
