Hi all, I have an HP rx1950 PPC (yeah, one of those cheapies). I bought it in early February of 2006. One night this past May, we were on vacation. I had it with me. About 8 o'clock I turned it on and it worked fine (no problems at all). When I got it out again at 11 o'clock, I noticed a faint black spot on the left side, midway on the LCD (I would take a picture and show you but it doesn't show up plain enough). When I turned it on, it came on but the screen didn't work where the black spot was. All around it was nothing but illuminated white. On the top right, all the way down to the bottom and then to the left of the screen a ways under the spot, the screen works, but there are multi-colored lines. Squeezing the iPAQ a little causes the lines to reappear in different locations, and sometimes even causes the display to flip a little. I was able to navigate to Windows Media Player and played a song. It played fine. IMO, I think it needs a new LCD. But what do you think? Thanks!
Without seeing it I would say it is broken. I've seen similar faults on other devices which were repaired by replacing the screen. Handy tip, ensure the replacement part is brand spanking new as I have had a couple of companies trying recently to sell me re-conditioned parts. One was even a screen which had a nick in it!
