I could not hear sound from my Ipaq H3870 PPC, i suspected the speakers of the ppc and use headphones neither that worked...all my sound settings seem normal. I have reset the PPC and that dint work.
If you could hear sound through the headphone socket but not the speaker it would indicate a physical connection issue. Since you can't hear through either it would suggest either a damaged audio chip or something has corrupted the audio driver on the devic. Hate to suggest the obvious, but have you tried a hard reset?
