MiniSd taking a dump

If anyone can help me with this problem I am having I would GREATLY appreciate it. I bought a XV6700 about a month ago and also purchased a 4Gb minisd. Whenever I add programs, video, music, files, etc. to my minisd the files are all replaced with a ton of folders with just a period as the title and nothing in them about three days later. Always happens and has happened about four times now since I have had the card. I use a ppc based scantool on my phone for the times when I am away from work, and this is a large reason why I bought a smartphone. I use activesync but it doesn't back up the card, and it happens even if I don't add anything from my computer from the time of the last reformat. I have been reformating the card just using the windows format by right clicking and using FAT32. I format through an sd adapter and my built in cardreader. Could this be a problem with the phone software or the card itself. It is driving me up a wall. No point in having a 4gb card if I only put 50mb on it cause I know it will be gone in a couple days. Thank you very very much in advance to anyone that can offer any help to my problem!!!
-Andy

the xv6700 is unstable with 4GB miniSD cards.... I found this out from experience. I use a 2GB and it works like a charm.

Thanks a lot for your reply. It really had me stumped. It is weird hasn't done it once since my post but i have very little on there. It only craps out if I load it up.
