SDHC (4GB and larger) SD Card Compatability

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just wondering if anyone has tried a 4GB SDHC Card with an Ipaq 5550?

Also, we should make a sticky with a user-submitted compatability list for these cards since from what I can find there is a lot of confusion but no definitive place to find an answer online with this issue.

OFFICIAL COMPATABILITY LIST - Please post to this thread to have your model listed

Cingular 8125 - Working

Ipaq 5550 SDHC - Negative

Went down to London Drugs and tried it for myself. The 4GB SDHC cards are NOT recognized by the Ipaq 5550.

Please help out anyone else interested and post whether or not your unit is capable of handling these cards.

Industry Standard 4GB Mini SD in a Cingular 8125 just erased itself overnight. Went to bed and it was ok, go up and its all gone. Totally unformatted.

I am having the same problem. Mine is not a SDHC though. It is just a miniSD formated FAT32. It just leaves behind folders with just periods as the names. Do I need to run a 2gb to be stable?

SDHC talk to the devices in a different way to standard SD cards. Only newer devices will be able to use them. See this advice from Sandisk http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/pdf/retail/SDHC1.pdf
