Sony has created a micro PC: Sony VAIO UX
This PC is much beter than any Pocket PC or Palm. And it has one very great advantage - it can run software made for Desktop PC including emulators for everything. It's speed is 1,2 GHz; has 1Gb RAM; 40 Gb HDD; touch- screen. It is a bit bigger than Pocket PC - with nearly 2 inches diagonal and 1 inch fatter, but size is still acceptable - not mentioning that there are and smalled models than the base one. When this device become cheaper I will surelly prefer it than Pocket PC. Probably all will do so. The fact that now it can run emulators for Pocket PC means that no it is beter that the Pocket PC- s. It also comes with USB port, build in GSM and everything that can be expected from PocketPC. According to me the next years noone will use Windows Mobile.
personally i DON"T like either the sony model or the other one that is around (OQO)
the resolution of the display is kinda reduced, and its too damn hard to read the text on it. the icons are microscopic and has a few glitches with the programs you can run on it. and the very most important issue...... THE PRICE!!!!!! how would you feel if it fell from your hands...... ouchh!!!
The prise is really a pin in the ass but it will fall sooner or later. The question is will the PocketPC's will survive that moment... there are two ways then: they to become as good as the minicomputers or even beter or to dramatically reduce their prise. By the way what do you mean for glitches while running a program. The text of the screen can be enlarged with the most software like Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer and others. The size of the icons are almost the same size like the ones used in the Windows Mobile.
