I just got a great deal on this PDA from a guy at a flea market but there are several problems with it and I was wondering if they are fixable or if this is a piece of scrap.
First off when I have the battery and the pda on the dock at the same time the pda will flash the loading screen on and off but not load anything.
Second it seems whenever I turn it off it starts back at square one, I have to go through the whole startup process over again (Calibrating the screen draging and dropping appointments ect)
Third it will not connect to my pc via the usb in the dock.
FOURTH!- Every time I try to enable the wifi it powersdown and I have to go through the start up process again.
So can anyone help me turn this piece of scrap into a pile of gold?
Ok so I fixed all of the problems by charging the battery except for one. When ever the unit is out of power, I lose everything I have put into it. Does this happen every time? Will I constantly have to worry about my power supply?
Ryleh - you actually have two batteries in the device, the first one is the battery that you have charged and the second is a "backup" battery which stores the information about the settings when you turn the PDA off. I would suggest that this needs replacing and it will probably solve the problems you are experiencing.
In WM2003 you still use the main battery whilst the device is turned off and this is why you need to keep it charged. If the backup battery is stuffed, you won't have any luck at keeping anything stored.
I have experienced this with my ipaq 2210 and had it refurbished by HP wiht a few little extras and it is like new. Hope this helps.
