I have been a pocket PC user since they were introduced. Most of them seem to have a short life span so I have had many. This one is about 2 years old, the longest ever. However it is giving me serious problems. I use it for large storage, probable over 4,000 contacts, and about 500 MB of notes, Word files, and calendar. Notes, Excel, and Word files are mostly on a 1GB SD card and I have maps and other data on a 128MB CF card. Needless to say, this machine is very slow. However, lately I am having to reboot several times per day to keep it working, it runs out of memory continuously.
About 2 mos. ago my folder systems just collapsed. Out of about 50 folders only about 6 work. Everything else just opens in "All Folders."
The real tragedy is that in the last week I will turn the PDA on and find that it has deleted dozens of notes and Word files. There is no trace and no warning, the data and the file names are just gone.
I didn't discover this until I had synchronized the PDA so all of the data is just lost.
Now I find that my available memory has dropped from about 17MB to 9MB at the same time as the loss of files. When I search for large files nothing unusual shows up.
1.) Do you have any idea what is wrong?
2.) How do I protect data in ActiveSync/Outlook so I don't lose everything in the future?
