I am hoping someone here can help me with a few questions I have for the 8525. I have a contract with Verizon Wireless that is about to expire and have been eyeing the new 8525 Unit from Cingular.
Here are my questions: (Keep in mind, I am new at this)
1.) I run Windows Vista at home, am I able to sync up my contacts, emails and so forth to the 8525? Is one program better then another?
2.) What options if any do I have for adding GPS functions to the 8525?
3.) Am I able to import my own ringtones to the PDA unit from songs I currently have on my pc? DO I need a special program to do this?
4.) How good is the battery life overall?
5.) Are you able to send tasks/to do lists from one 8525 to another 8525? My wife and I are thinking of getting the same unit.
6.) Does anybody know when Windows Mobile 6 is coming out and is the 8525 able to get it?
7.) Where can I be directed to a website that has free apps for the 8525?
Let me see if i can answer some of your questions. there may be better answer out there from other members so you can wait for other response.
1.) I run Windows Vista at home, am I able to sync up my contacts, emails and so forth to the 8525? Is one program better then another?
the one that that you are using is the new sync systems of mobile devices for Vista that is if you are talking about Windows Mobile Device Center.
2.) What options if any do I have for adding GPS functions to the 8525?
with this one you can always use a bluetooth GPS its better to go wireless but the drawback is power...
3.) Am I able to import my own ringtones to the PDA unit from songs I currently have on my pc? DO I need a special program to do this?
If you are talking about your fuull lenght music that's in your pc, the would be yes you need a special program to convert it to format that is supported by your device. there are a lot of good application out there you can try to find one if you use GOOGLE.com
4.) How good isthe battery life overall? Now this really depends on how you will use the device. but overall i would say its good enough...
5.) Are you able to send tasks/to do lists from one 8525 to another 8525? My wife and I are thinking of getting the same unit. There are good 3rd party applications that can do this one good PIM management is Pocket Informat.
6.) Does anybody know when Windows Mobile 6 is coming out and is the 8525 able to get it? this will really depends of the carrier of the device such as Verizon, microsoft already release the final version of WM6 to companies that sell out products that uses this. Its up to this company to do thier part.
7.) Where can I be directed to a website that has free apps for the 8525?
There are a lot of free applications for pocket pc, all you have to do is look for it, i always use GOOGLE.com for this task, but there is also pocketpcfreeware.com which have a good lists of freewares.. Also you might try to visit our download sections you will find some great applications for your device.
