No, I still have cingular account, email is working fine at my home everything at any other free wireless spot works perfectly, just on campus, and after like 15mnts of trying to connect on campus I get an error message telling me that it couldn't get an appropriate IP or smthg like that.
NiceOne91, I think Billabond1 is right:
College WiFi's allow you to connect, but you usually have to log in as a student. I had to do it, myself, and it's easier if the help desk people tell you exactly what to do.
Yes I see what you are saying, but the problem is that my friends have another wireless device, I think the Q which comes from T-mobile, he can access the internet on campus when ever he wants, so don't you guys think it's a problem with the IP address or something like that.
My friend just got an 8125 from Cingular, and he had the same problem, so since his was new, he did a factory restore and deleted everything Cingular installed.
So I was thinking that Cingular may have something there to block you, so you use GPRS and pay 40$/month.
What do you guys think, is it possible to be from Cingular?
so i hate to bring up an old thread as my first topic, but my 8125 is in the mail and I should have it here for my last week or two on campus, and Im wondering if anyone knows if Cingular somehow blocks WiFi access so that you have to use the 40 dollar/month plan??? Is anyone on here able to connect to a wireless LAN and use that connection without paying for Cingulars data network?
I have cingular, and on campus the wireless is not working.
An advice, if you don't want to spend any money to connect to the internet, call them and tell them to block your GPRS, what happened to me is that in the beginning, since my phone is touch screen I some time click on Internet explorer by mistake so it connects automatically, and they keep charging me even if I am not using it, so I called them and now I can't connect via GPRS.
Nop, I always connect through wi-fi, and still use my phone, I think you don't use GPRS to talk on the phone, GPRS is a way to connect to the internet, and if you use GPRS they will charge per KB downloaded.
