Angry HP iPAQ 2490 Problems

I had installed programs such as Weather Watcher, MemMaid, Bejewlled, Air Scanner Active Guard, Kevtris 2, Hitchiker, MxCalc, PPC Finder, Pool House, Sprite Backup, etc. and they were working well, then I tried to get a CF GPS module I picked up working and now many of my programs will not start. Instead of seeing the original logo for the program in the Programs or Games Window now all I see is an angled rectangle with a blue bar across the top and when I try to start the application I get a message saying the file cannot be opened because either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found.

Can anyone tell me what has happened and how to solve the problem withour reinstalling all the programs?

Grant

It seems that the GPS moduke is at fault. Remove it to verify if the other apps work. If they do, I suggest you contact the GPS provider so they can assist you in resolving your issue.

I have already removed all the associated GPS programming and the module and the problem still exists. The GPS module manufacturer has been of no assistance. The module is a few years old and is no longer manufactured or supported. It is a Haicom HI-302E CompactFlash GPS Receiver CF type I.

I assume that you also performed a soft reset after uninstalling the gps module. Otherwise only a hard reset will fix it.

Yes, I have done a soft reset, numerous times, but I am reluctunt to do a hard reset because of the files/programming I might lose.

After playing around I find i can access the programs if I go to the SD card where I installed them. i reinstalled one program and it's icon was restored to the Programs window but the icon is still not visible from oupp down menu in the start window.

I also have Sprite backup software and tried to trstore to an earlier date but still the icons do not appear although I am not sure id I am getting a restore because it seems to take such a short time and I don't get any messages confirming a restore.

The icon will be visible only if you start the program and will appear in the Most Recently used programs list. If you want to stick it there you must use the Menus option in Settings folder.
