Hello, everyone! I am new to the board, but I did look around for an answer. If I missed it, my apologies.
My boss just received a Cingular 8125 from his family. Therefore, I must learn how to use it. A problem I am having is with syncing the Outlook calendar. The time will be correct on whichever device I enter it (PC or phone) but changes to the synced device. Does anyone know how to stop this before it drives me insane?
Have you checked to make sure that the PC and device are set to the same time zone? ActiveSync adjusts for time zone differences when syncing calendar items.
Great idea. Unfortunately, the two devices are set for the same time zone.
To complicate matters more, this issue is only happening sporadically. Some months sync correctly while others move the appointment forward or backward an hour.
We had this same issue at work with our RIM devices. Check to make sure that both your computer and you device are updated for the new DST (Daylight Savings Time) patch.

Yes, my Cingular 8125 has clock drama problems as well. It just can't seem to stay in sync with the one and only computer it ever attaches to.
With both the phone and the PC on the same time zones and patched, the phone would always end up an hour +/- somehow or worse if you power it off and forget to check it on start up. Got tired of missing meetings as a result of it.
Here is how I dealt with the problem:
Switch the Phone to "Mountain Standard Time" (they have no daylight savings time ever! --except the Navajo region really...), then manually change the time on the phone to match the correct time and presto!
As long as the time and time zone are correct on the PC, the appointments will sync properly to the phone at their scheduled times. Since MST doesn't change times, the software(s) all "seem" to leave the clock settings on the phone alone.
Even creating appointments on the phone and then running a sync gets the appointment on the desktop PC calendar at the correct time/date.
The phone will hold its correct time until you manually change it (Cingular 8125 isn't capable of network time from Cingular, hence the need to change it by hand anyway) --doh!
I'll gladly add my cell phone to the list of clocks to change around the house twice a year just to make sure I don't miss any meetings!
FYI: Mountain Time zone “does” have time changes. I live in Utah and every spring and every fall we set our clocks forward and backwards. I think you might be thinking of Arizona. If you set your 8125 clock to Mountain Standard it will change time every spring and fall. You might want to switch to Arizona time in your settings, which might work.
