Looking to buy a pocketpc but a couple questions first.

Id like to be able to use some downloaded software but i notice different processors dont work with certain programs what kind should i be getting/staying away from, would need to have wifi, a SD card slot, a color screen and good IR id like to be able to use as a remote, gps would be a plus but i dont really need.All i would be using it for really is chatting, browsing simple webpages, email and remote control.I dont need anything that can be used as a phone and id like to try and stay under 300$ anyone have any reccomendations on a specific brand/model.

I would recommned the Dell Axim X51v, I have this and I also have the Apache (PPC-6700).

PROCESSOR
With the Dell Axim X51v you can chosse from 3 procesor speeds: 416MH, 520MHz or 624MHz.

I have the 624MHz model, VGA screen, 64MB RAM & 256MB ROM, just awesome, I bought mine 2nd hand it came with a load of add ons including Dell Bluetooth keyboard, VGA cable, 2nd power cable and spare battery... heres whats on my Axim

Main Memory
* SPB Diary
* SPB Pocket Plus
* Beta Menu App
* Wisbar Advance
* Vista Portable Edition by Xcillion
* Twopeaks BillRate
* FlexWallet 2006
* TenGo text entry, this is really good, I watch the video and was blown away really worth getting!!

1 GB SD Card
* SPB Backup
* SPB Finance
* SPB Imageer
* SPB Insight
* SPB Weather
* WiFiFoFum
* Skype
* MS Reader
* Adobe Acrobat
* .NET CF 2.0
* Flash Player 7
*
Opera 8.60 (really good can view websites as whole page, down fall is can not view flash enabled websites have to use IE)
* SoftMaker PlanMaker
(What you always wanted Excel Mobile to be...)
* SoftMaker TextMaker (What you always wanted Word Mobile to be...)

Do you want to make your own eBooks using MS Word? Well use this FREE software, click here to view
REMOTE CONTROL
now I have used Novii Deluxe Remote control and it was excellent I was getting about 20-25 feet distance from the tv, on the forum there are heaps of pre-made codebases...

GPS
My Ax has a GPS section that loads your Hardware and Software so yes it can be used for GPS.

EXTENDED MEMOREY
The X51v has both SD & CF card slots, I currently have 1GB SD & 1GB CF card.

CHATTING
I have used SKYPE and found that I can also use it as a SKYPE phone using wife (I have a wifi broadband router) haven't used it for any other chatting apps...

INTERENT
I use now all the time just go wifi and bingo you can use PIE or Opera just bare in mind though that Opera can not view any websites that have Flash as Flash 7 for PPC only works with IE.

EMAIL
Yes again I have my Ax set up for my Gmail account & my main account, again I use my home wifi connection and at work we have two FREE wifi connections that I piggy back on...

COST
At the momment on the USA dell site the Axim X51v 624MHz is $374 USD (25% off if buy on line) normally $499.00 USD, I know you can find one on Ebay or other trading websites, the one I got is in really good nick heres a pick

Cheers

Good luck

Jace
