I have an Orange M500 SPV phone (HTC Magician clone) and have a problem with no audio through the built in earpiece (speaker phone works fine, as does an external earpiece plugged in thru the bottom). Nothing new there, you're probably thinking, it's the connections to the earpiece - wrong! Earpiece has been removed, replaced, I've put larger solder pads onto the PCB, have even tried to hardwire the microphone but no dice.
So, you probably think it's a broken earpiece? Wrong again! If I make a call, I can't hear anything thru the internal earpiece. If I turn the volume to maximum, the SPV beeps a few times to indicate max volume has been reached, when these beeps are being produced I get sound through the previously quiet earpiece! As soon as the beep stops, the audio mutes again. What the hell?????
I've soft reset, hard reset, wiggled the earpiece about, etc. and am now fresh out of ideas. Help!
