Sweet 8525 Croaked!

Well, it is NOT a record, that being held by my 1st Kyocera 7135 which lasted but 4 hours, but my sweet Cingular 8525 managed only 28 day, 18hrs.

No, it wasn't overclocked or abused.
Its touch screen just failed.

Fortunately, its button controls remained alive long enough to get a full SPB Backup (it backs up each night on schedule, but changes DO get made during the day).

A hard reset left it gasping for screen input which, of course, wasn't doable. Now, battery out, it will rest over night.

Tonight, Cingular was advised (my record (rap sheet?) noted, she said) that, regardless of their "30 day policy," the local store bereft of 8525's, I shall have one by priority express "Verizon (12 years and "experienced") style."

For now, my number is forwarded to my wife's Verizon 7135 (yes, I have several of them off eBay). Tomorrow (Saturday), we shall know how Cingular cares for new (not middling $$) customers. I am reminded, "always take a gun when invited to a knife fight." <grn>

Folks,
Always said: "If I do bad, tell me. If I do good, tell my boss."

Here's a public AttaBoy to Cingular.
Scenario:
1) 8525 after 28 days croaked Friday night, 2230 MST
2) Reported to Cingular "After Hours Tel #," file noted
3) Saturday morning, called local Cingular Center; "No 8525's in Colorado."
4) Called Cingular Warranty (800.801.1101) Saturday morning. RMA# issued. Chose "Overnight" for $7.95
5) Received confirming e-mail with DHL airbill link Saturday afternoon
6) Queried DHL late Saturday night, MY new 8525 was in DHL hands from Ft Worth, Texas! WOW!
7) 8525 arrived Ohio Sunday morning
8) 8525 arrived my front door 1132 Monday morning!

Fantastic!

Installed SIM.
Installed 2g chip.
Started SPF Backup from chip.

SHAZAM!
Runs like a hose. .. .

Downtime 61 hours.
Phenomenal customer service, Cingular!
WELL DONE!

Yo, BrainC, infant mortality is an electronics device phenomenon neither created nor exacerbated by me. Though long a Palm afficionado, my 1st WinMob device was neither hted nor abused.

But, man, these thingysmake excellent shotgun targets, better as they get smaller and more impact resistant. <grn>

However, I've truly, in the past month, come to the DarkSide. My 8525 thingy #2 will be treated with utmost respect. Also, its keep must be earned. . . 00-buck already loaded over max powder & short wads just in case. <grn>
