iPaq barrery life and storage

Hello all, I'm very new to the PPC game and this is my first post! I just got an iPaq RX1950, I hope it is a good unit, as it is my very first I would have nothing to compair it to but I like it a lot. My question is how long should it run off a single charge? It is a referbished unit from HP and it seems like its is brand new, looks and all. Also is there a diffrent battery that is longer life and if so how much should I expect to pay for one. I would say that I can get 2 to 3 hours of use out of it as it is. And I may be wrong but it seems like if I turn off the wifi when I'm not using it I get longer life. I hope this has not be covered somewhere, I did search and look first. I would like to know also how big of an sd card I can use in it. I put a 1 gig in there and it is find but I can see the need for more room. Also it runs out of memory so I have to go through the menu to shut down everything. Why can't I just shut down the programs as I finish them without having to go through all that? Is there some software or something I can get to do that? And is there a way to add more memory to it? It has 35 mb storage and 23 mb in program according to the Memory main screen. Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions like I said I just got it and I could not be any more new to all this! Any help or though would be great.

Thanks,
Chuck

Welcome to the forums Chuck!

Battery life is different for every device, but in general it should last at least a couple of days on a full charge - and yes, turning off the wireless radio will greatly increase battery life.

As for the memory issue, the problem with ppc's in general is that the OS does not really close programs, it just minimizes them to the background, in case you should need them again. What I've heard is that the OS is supposed to close the programs and allot memory as needed, but that never seems to be the case.

Long explanation short, most people install a third-party memory/task manager - Magicbutton is free, and a lot of people seem to like it. Here is the developer's page.

Hope I've answered some of your questions - good luck with your ipaq!

Thank you sir for the great info. Battery last a couple days???? Is that just turned on but not in use? I have to recharge it after 3 or 4 hours max wifi off or not! I guess I need to find a new battery. Iwill try that software as it sounds like just what I was looking for. Thanks again!

Oh, it'll last a couple of days, with intermittant on/off usage - not with the screen on and the device active the whole time..that'd be amazing!

Enjoy!

Still I think I may need a battery. If I use it an hour here and an hour there it needs a recharge. Total useable time is about 2 to 3 hours. I guess I should look into what HP says it should be, stupid me! And if they have a longer life battery I would be on it.

Thanks again!
Chuck
