why wont my ppc 6700 play stereo instead of mono?

i thought the ppc 6700 was supposed to have stereo speakers, i only see one, and when i plug in headphones it only plays through the right speaker instead of both

Sounds like you need 4 conductor-compatible headphones, see this thread at pdaphonehome.

I believe Treos use a standard 2-conductor minijack, while the 6700 uses a proprietary 4-conductor socket.

Did the 6700 come with headphones? Did you try those? Also is it new or used?
