I tried to search for threads on hooking up a jump or "thumb" drive and got error messages. If I get a USP cable with the right ends, can I just hook up the drive and access the files?
Only on those few devices that are built with USB host functionality; most devices are client-only (the late, lamented Toshibas and current Loox models include USB host). If your device has a CF slot, you can use a card like Ratoc's to add USB hosting. I have not seen such an adapter in SD form yet.
