Hi all, this is my first post and i am looking for some advice please.
I previously had a motorola A1000 until I broke it in the summer, and have now saved enough to buy a new PDA. Rather than symbian I would like to try the new Windows 5 os.
I want to use the handset daily to:
1. Make calls and send texts reliably.
2. Quickly and easily suf the internet
3. Use as a Sat Nav
Although at the limit of my price range, I think the SPV M600/Qtek S200/I-mate JAMin/Neo/DOPOD 818 is the phone for me.
My reasoning is that it will perform the above with the added benefit of EDGE to speed up the GPRS signal when not browsing on WiFi. It also has a reasonable 2 megapixel camera. I like not having a kepad and using the stylus for everything!
With this in mind, have I made the right choice? Is there a handset I have missed? If not, which version of this should I buy as I am intending to do so 2nd hand. Therefore, if I buy the Orange branded phone, changing the outer cover is easy enough, but can you reset the firmware (is it orange branded? - I read that MSN Messenger isnt installed)
Can I also please have your advice on what Sat Nav software to buy (or is this easily downloadable?) and what type, make of GPS receiver or holder.
Thanks and sorry to go on - you can see I like to be specific!
i have bought the m600 with tomtom 6 and a tomtom 6 receiver - how about advice in a car holder. is the speaker loud on the phone or is it advisable to get a mount with power and speaker?
I've just got an M600 and installed TT6 on ith, GPS via blue tooth. Fairly easy to sort out TT, the GPS was a pain, speakerphone is OK.
GPS and Bluetooth on the A1000 was a lot easier
In terms of car holder I used my PDA mount and an elastic band! Battrey life is good for it using bluetooth, the A1000 went through batteries for breakfast.
