I'm new to the whole arena of Pocket PCs/PDAs etc, although I work in IT so I really ought to know a bit more than I do.
I'm looking at getting one for christmas, but I don't know anything about them. We recently got a HP (1930?) at work, free with a bulk order, which I've had a play about with, but that's the extent of my knowledge. (Unfortunately my Network Manager has taken it for himself, so I played while he was away last week)
Does anyone know of any good guide, or can anyone give me a quick guide to the whole arena? Especially explanation of the different types of Pocket PC/PDA - is a PDA the same as a Pocket PC? How do Palm, Ipaq, Blackberry, WM5 relate to each other - I know WM5 is an OS - are the others different OS's, or are they like PCs versus Macs? Once I know these kind of answers, I can start to focus on particular areas. One thing I do know is I don't need phone functionality built in, but I *do* need wifi. [Edit: Sorry, that's 2 things I do know....]
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm about to post another thread asking about iCal software, so that will be 2 posts in one night.
Hi howartp, welcome to the forums. The best place to read up on info for general background kind of stuff is wikipedia.
A pocket PC is pretty much a PDA but it makes calls.
Palm, and Blackberry are other companies with comparable goods to PPC's. they are competitors. An iPaq is a line of PPC products created by HP.
