Hey all, NooB to the site here, 2 month owning my T-Mobile MDA. Long story short, my wireless network card for my laptop died on me. Yea, I could just go get a new one, but I'd rather not if I don't have to. My MDA connects just fine to my home network which has a 10Mbit internet connection. I've got all software and hardware working corectly to get my laptop online using the Edge connection, but hey... I'm a tech... I want faster! Does anyone know if there is any way to use my MDA to logon to my home network, then patch the internet connection through the USB to my laptop? I guess basicly, I want to turn my MDA into a USB Wireless network card for my laptop.
Thanks Jane, but like I said, I've got the Laptop to Modem working just fine using the Edge (230k) connection, but I want to connect my laptop to the MDA Via USB, then connect the MDA's WiFi to my home internet connection (10Mbit) and give my Laptop access to it, like Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). If this stumps anyone, don't worry. I've spent HOURS looking for a way to do this, but I've not even found anyone else asking if it can even be done. I've stumped 3 MDA Data Techs at T-Mobile. One even gave me his direct line number and asked me to call him if I found a way to do it. I suspect the "Leap" tab in "Wireless LAN" settings the MDA might have something to do with it, but I don't know. I suspect there is a way to share packets from the WiFi network adapter to the USB network adapter, but I have yet to be able to identify which is which in the network adapters windows. (this thing lists like 7 diffrent adapters!) I would just go through and screw with settings, but I'm afraid I'll mess up an adapter that is working correctly now.
