found a problem with pocket solutions belt holster and cingular 8125....

I kept having a problem with my 8125. Every time I would pull the phone out of it's holster (a pocket solutions holster) the phone would be in landscape mode instead of portrait mode, even though the keyboard was secure and not slid out. It pissed me off - 2 rings later the screen would go back to portrait and be ok. I called cingular, they couldn't help. I called HTC, they couldn't help. So I kept calling the hell out of my phone to try identify the problem, and it seeming the phone only messed up in landscape mode when I pulled it out of the holster..........bingo - There are 2 big magnets on the side of the holster that hold it closed - every time my phone is pulled past these magnets on it's way out, the screen changed to landscape!! It is the holster, not the phone. The magnets are making the phone think that the keyboard is opening when it isn't. I just sent an email to pocket solutions, I will let you guys know what they do. I hope that these magnets don't do any damage to my expensive phone!

Great analisis, Mr. Holmes!
Now, how come the magnets are affecting the phone??? Would sliding the phone past the magnets again fix the problem?
Curious... don't you think?

some manufacturers use magnets specifically for this purpose...i have a friend with a blackberry pearl...and the magnets on the holster change the ringer profile on his phone when it is slid in/out of the holster.

cool stuff...keep us updated on what they say!

The big danger with holsters that have magnets is that they can destroy your credit card's magnetic strip if you accidentally get your card too close...

I've been there, done that.... got rid of the magnetic holster.

Wow, I was always wondering why the hell this happened and could never find a solution. I guess I will have to go with the basic button holster instead of this fancy magnatic holster. Ohh flinstone, here I come.
