A friend of mine bought the XDA Mini S a couple of months back but returned it to the shop after a few days as he found it very slow in general. The change of orientation when the keyboard was slid out slowed it down and also moving from program to program was slow. he claims that he was told that there is too much data on it and that the XDA Mini S processor is not big enough to cope with the data.
The friend in question does not have a good knowledge on smart phones/technology which means there is a possibility that he may have set it up incorrectly.
I saw a comment on one site that it's recommended not to install the full software package that comes bundled with it, especially the O2 Active menu. So at present I have only installed the basic option.
I'm interested to hear others views on this. Thanks
I have an O2 XAD Mini II s and think it's great. I also tried the O2 Active and gave up, slow downs and all kinds of problems.
I install all my progs on my 2gb memory card. I bought and installed Pocket Plus and its superb. The only 2 things that annoy me are the restricted memory (cannot run animated themes and Pocket plus together) and that often when I take the phone out of the belt case to answer a call, it tends to open the keyboard slightly and the screen orientation changes. Then you have to wait a short while before you can answer the call while the screen re-orientates itself.
The most powerful Today plug-in with tabs. Close button that really closes. ZIP support in File Explorer. And many other features missing in official OS updates in one product. New Pocket Plus 3.1 features:
Performance and stability increased
Compatibility with Windows Mobile 5 devices improved
New feature: ability to uninstall unnecessary components
Alpha channel support for Today Plug-in icons
New icons for standard programs
Extended device range with backlight indicator support
Yeah. XDA mini has that orientation problem for me too. O2 active menu will slow things down substaintially so remove that. Install all the programmes on storage card and free up as much memory as you can.
