Dell, all I can tell you is that with my TMobile MDA it was a pretty straightforward process where I simply followed the instructions that came with the Bluetooth headset.
Have you tried to see if it simply connected everything automatically?
Its Possible, its pairing, but not as a audio-output device, such as pairing with a set of bluetooth headphones, like the dreadful Logitech set. Your device needs to have the correct profile to pair and use the headset as a headphone.. I was able to do this with my 4700 and acheive the results you are talking about, But with my newer Aux 6700, pairing the headset only lets you use it as a headset for the phone, no other audio.
It does seem to have paired but i cant get any sound out of it when using skype or any other app.
Hi Dell!
Nice Name and Pocket pc....
You might be using you bluetooth headset paired but its using the profile Hands Free/Headset.
Check if your device supports A2DP profile this is the Audio Gateway for B. Headset. And for additional info try to visit aximsite.

If not, we have other posts in this forum where :
a) Tim gave us a "tweak" for using bluetooth headsets as audio headphones,
b) we are given a link for the btaudioon.exe software,
c) we are given an unofficial (risky) ROM update that includes the A2DP profile.
