My school has a wireless network and I would like to be able to get on the internet while at lunch or in between workout sets, etc. There's few wireless-equipped PDA's that I can find for under $300 though. Anyone got any suggestions?
Welcome to Pocket PC Addict subnet_rx! I'm glad that you are interested in taking advantage of your wireless network at school. There are plenty of great PDAs under $300 bucks. If you aren't looking for the built in phone feature (like the Cingular 8125 for 299.99). Then I'd recommend the HP iPAQ rx1950/rx1955. It's only $299.99 but it offers WiFi and Windows Mobile 5.0 all in a small but powerful package. Check it out here:
Looking through an HP catalog is what turned me on to this idea in the first place. But, after doing some searching, it seems that the Palm TX is better than the 1955 to me. I'd love to find something for around $199 but I don't think I can.

Just remember that Palm have a different OS and i havent heard any news on updating thier OS, although a love the simplicity of Palm but when it comes to softwares i believe windows mobile still got the upper hand. You can find almost everyday that there are new applications that are release.
But when it comes to freeware i believe Palm have a lots of it.

Well, I may become a PDA junkie after I get it, but right now I'm planning on just using it for organization and web browsing. Two things that I've read the Palm TX is really good at. After reading more reviews tonight, I am almost convinced the TX is for me. The only thing that really worries me is Palm coming out with a new model next month.
I have the rx1950 and it IS a great little device. Some people have said "Oh, it's got a Samsung processor in it ... " but that hasn't made much difference to me.
While I don't have a TX, I do have a T|C, which is another great PDA. If you're doing a lot of websurfing though, look into battery life, and the browser that comes with the TX. As much as I loathe Internet Explorer, some browsers on Palms suck ...
Do your homework! ..and good luck in your decision
Thanks for all the posts on Hp RX1955 vs. Palm TX. I am going to get a RX1955 at Best Buy under my replacement warranty & probably get it 1/2 off & in store credit for the other 1/2 of what my other one was worth. My dead one is the RX3115. Hope I'm happy with the new one ??
Trust us, you WILL be happy with the rx1955. I've had my share of the rx3115 and I can tell you that the rx1955 is leaps and bounds over the rx3115. Now I hope I don't bring your hopes all the way up, but seriously, you'll love the smaller size, the new Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, and just about everything else.
Let us know what you think when you get it (and I hope it doesn't disappoint you)!
I am currently trying the Qtek 9100 also called the i-mate K-JAM (thanks Tim). The reason I suggest it is because you may be able to get it for free on contract and the killer for me in a corporate environment is that it supports both 802.11b/g and it is Quad band so it will suit my international staff. Just a thought.......
