Has anyone here been able to attach an external hard drive to a PocketPC?
From my research, it looks like I'll need to get a 2.5" Hard Drive enclosure that has built in wireless connectivity, like the ASUS WL-HDD. And wirelessly connect to the hard drive from my PocketPC.
My main reason for this method is so that I can get an uber iPod style thing going on in my car. Like a Carputer, but without needing to dismantle any sort of factory default components in my car.

Welcome to the forums jeffersonkim! I remember back in the day people used the dual PC card expansion sleeves for the old iPAQs and stuck PCMCIA hard drives in them. That's old school and not to mention huge. But nowadays I believe Pocket PC's don't have the ability at this point to attach a 2.5" hard drive mainly because of the heavy power drain it would have on the batteries. I just can't wait until 20GB miniSD cards are available.
There are a few PPC's that have USB host capabilities, that are perfectly capable of reading from an external HD. I used my e800 to hook up to my 150g external hard drive, or to an Mp3 player to use as a hard drive. The only catch it that the HD has to have it's own power source, as there is not enough power to run both from the PPC.
However, I don't think that is what he is looking for, but it may be the best alternative, other than spending $$$$ on a 12g memory card.
Dang it. . . doign more research. . . it does look like it'd be way better if I just bought a refurbished e800 and hooked it up to a preexisting external hard drive I have. . .

I learn something new everyday . Are there any other Pocket PC's out there other than the e800 that supports USB Host capabilities?
The ones with USB host capability are fairly limited that also have Bluetooth and a VGA screen, and a processor adequate enough to play movies on its VGA screen
I ended up paying $269 final for my Dell Axim x51v! Which is crazy low for a system of its caliber. . . and I was thinking, after spending $200 on the 80GB network hard drive. If I were to somehow get a USB host capable PDA for just $100 bones more than the Dell Axim, it'd be sooo worth it because I already have a standard 3.5" hard drive enclosure.
But after much more research. . . and my brain hurting. . . the system that was next available that had adequate capabailities of USB host cost $499. Ummmm. . . so no dice.
It's more "cost effective" to just go Dell Axim x51v with the wireless network capability.
