Axim owners want answers & a fix to Windows Mobile 5

Got a Dell Axim? Want to know what's up with why there isn't a fix for the Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for you Axim? Sign the petition and hopefully Dell will fess up.
To: Dell Inc.
We the owners of various Dell Axims (X50, X50v, X51, X51v) feel that the upgrade to WM5 is not well supported. We enjoy this product but we can no long sit by and let our words go unheard. We collectively agree that the update to Windows Mobile 5 is not properly working on our systems and we would like quick and detailed action in response to this problem. We are well aware that this is a problem on a multitude of handhelds because your company has even released a rollback program. Some of us paid for this upgrade, while others obtained it free with the purchase of the unit. Your product has been well received by the media for its style, form factor and ample product abilities. We feel that unless this is handled in a prompt manner we will take higher action to not only report this to the media outlets, but also going as far as legal action. We don’t feel our demands are unjust but we do feel your treatment of loyal and trusted customers is very unjust. This petition has been circulated throughout various Pocket PC forums and members and it is sure to catch the eye of a media outlet. We ask that you fix this problem before your customer service level goes south.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned

For owners of the x51 & x51V, this may be a good idea. For the x50 & x50V, I think it's not a very good idea.
People whine and complain if there is no upgrade for their handheld, and then when the company provides one, they complain again. If I were the company providing the upgrade, I might easily decide that providing upgrades doesn't pay.
Now, this is NOT to say that I think WM5 is market ready, because I don't. I had to opportunity to choose a new device recently, and looked at the Axim, and ultimately decided not to get it, because of compatibility issues with WM5. I chose instead, a product that was making an upgrade available, so I did have the option, but it was more important to me to have the ability to roll back, or not install the upgrade until the new OS became more stable all the way around.
I'd just recommend caution when you ask for something, and then don't like it when they give it to you, because next time it might not be available at all.

I have to disagree.. Yes, we wanted it... Yes, it "appears" we got, welll .... something. But I wouldnt consider it quite what we wanted.
Its still up to Dell to make sure that an upgrade is in fact an upgrade...
They know they screwed up in what they gave us and rushed it out, and..... so now it would be nice if they fixed what we asked and paid for, but werent really fully delivered.
(because for a lot of us, it wasnt even a free upgrade!!!)

I have and enjoy an Axim X50v. Bought it when they were first released. No WM5. Don't care. It works and works well. I agree that we who whine for upgrades should beware what we ask for. If it wasn't built for it, it probably will be buggy in implementation. I haven't even done all the revision flashes before WM5. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
