Vaja i-volution T7 Case Review

If you really want to pimp out your Treo 700w you need to get luxury accessories. Only a few accessory retailers can handle that kind of title. Vaja is no exception. Today, I hold in my hands the Vaja i-volution T7 (from $90.00), a sleek leather case from Vaja, maker of leather products. Just looking at the box it came in made my mouth salivate. What I noticed from the get go is how Vaja pays close attention to detail. It’s no reason why they have that “luxury status” on the internet.

The leather case has a “new car” smell, and not just your Mazda 626 smell, we’re talking Ferrari Enzo smell, something that I can definitely get used to. When holding the case I can feel that it is very sturdy and firm. I can tell already that this case wasn’t just for looks, it was actually for protection. I squeezed the case in my hand without the Treo 700w inside. I’ve never felt anything quite like it. It definitely felt like the case was made into a hard mold and then custom wrapped in voluptuous leather. It’s definitely something I’d trust protecting my Treo 700w. The case has cutout and mesh openings for every feature of my Treo including an LED window on the upper left. Now my sounds and notification lights go right through—very innovative.

Because of the cases firmness, I wasn’t sure how my Treo 700w would hold up when I put it in. As long as your device is off, your Treo won’t be hurt at all. I say off because if the Treo is on you might push some buttons and what not while you put the case on. The case made it self at home. It fit snug like a glove. I can’t say that it was a “second skin” like other neoprene cases out there (i.e. BoxWave FlexiSkin) because of it’s extra thickness, but it’s not noticeably thick, it’s just not noticeably thin. J. And on that note you can’t put the Treo in a cradle with this thing on, but show me a case that can.

One more test squeeze while the Treo 700w was in the case reassured me of its protection. I stuck the phone in my pocket case and all. Walking around is no problem, it doesn’t feel like anything extra in my pocket other than the Treo 700w itself. The case didn’t get in the way of the device during daily use, in fact, I think I like the extra padding, it makes it a bit more comfortable when using the keyboard. But depending on the size of your hands, your mileage may vary on that aspect.

The only gripe I have is the fact that the T7 model leaves the whole face wide open and unprotected. There is a covered version available (the T77) but can’t they do something to protect the front without have a huge cover in the front? Please?

Overall, the Vaja i-volution T7 is definitely a quality product. It’s so nice you kind of want to get a case for the case. Do they sell those? It is a bit expensive, but if you have the cash to buy a Treo 700w, you should be fine spending this kind of dough.

Pro: Quality in numbers, felt snug, protection is definitely there, actually felt better to use the Treo 700w with the case on.
Cons: A bit expensive even for what you get. You don’t want to mess the case up. The T7 model leaves the whole face wide open and unprotected (there is a T77 that covers the whole face). Doesn’t fit with cradle, but what case does?

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Price: $90 USD

I've seen the case in person and I would have to agree! Beautiful workmanship...quite the eye candy with the Treo encased. Great review Tim!
