Jornada 520 Sadness

My old Jornada 520 has been having a very annoying problem. It freezes every time I slightly bump it or put any light pressure on the case. In fact, in order to use it, I have to keep it still on the desk.
Sometimes a soft reset will get it going again after a freeze, and sometimes it won't and I'm forced to do a hard reset. I notice the hard reset will be necessary if I let the Jornada sit for a few minutes after it's frozen.
I've taken the thing apart numerous times to check for anything loose or anything out of the ordinary, but I can't figure anything out. I notice that after a freeze, if I squeeze my jornada tightly before a reset it somehow becomes more resistant to bumping and thus freezing the next time, but it's only temporary.
It even happens when I turn it off and bump it. It just refuses to turn back on without a reset.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm going crazy here, and I really love my Pocket PC, and I'd really love to get it back to normal again.
Thanks!
Brian

Hi Brian, welcome to the forums!
I suspect that your device has reached the end of it's life cycle, and it's probably time to replace it with a new device. The Jornada's were certainly fine PDA's, but all good things must come to an end.
Currently available PDA's will have more memory and better features, even at the low end than your current model, and I'm sure you will enjoy playing with a new device.
Good luck!

Yeah, I was afraid of that. There's a used iPaq 1910 I have my eye on. What do you have to say about this model?

The HP iPAQ 1910 is a great starter and is thin as a nickel but if you have the money i'd get the HP iPAQ rx1955. It's the perfect middle ground for Pocket PCs. You get WiFi, a 300 MHz processor (over the 200 MHz) more memory as well as Windows Mobile 5.0.
But if you REALLY want to get the 1910, then you'll love how reliable and light it is (iPAQ 1910 = 4.23 oz vs. Jornada 520 = 8.0 oz). You'll still be a step behind in the times, but still in the right path for the future!

Well, it appears that the 1910 isn't available on eBay anymore. It's too bad too, 65 bucks is a steal...
I certainly can't afford a new iPaq right now. I'm a poor college student, and anything over 75 bucks is just plain exorbitant for me. It's not much, I know, but it's all I can afford.
There's a Jornada 565 I can purchase though. What do you think about this model? I'm not interested in anything speedy, as almost anything will be more speedy than my 520, and as long as I can get Pocket PC 2002 and up, I don't mind.
Thanks for the help guys, nobody else pays attention to me, it's quite frustrating.

If you're ok with something that has Pocket PC 2002 then the Jornada 565 is a fine device. I'd also look at the iPAQ 3800 series if you can. I see a few on eBay in working condition starting at 25 bucks.
If you want to see a review of the Jornada 565 check it out here:

It's a Geek.com Pick!

So now, I'm almost set on the Jornada 565, but I just wanted to see those iPAQ's you were talking about on eBay. Could you point me in the right direction? I like to spend my money wisely, and I figure it wouldn't hurt to give them a look.
Thanks! You guys are great!

Here's an HP iPAQ 3800 on eBay:

At the time of this writing it was at 41 bucks. At the time of the previous writing it was at 24 bucks... so no promises!

Thanks again for your advice Tim. I went ahead and bought the Jornada 565 just so I didn't have to worry about the whole bidding process.
It's going to be great to have a functioning Pocket PC again. My 520 has been acting up for years.
