Spotted this neat little projector over at jkOnTheRun. Would be great to have on the road or for impromptu presentations. ... It's not the brightest projector out there at 250 lux but it does project an image up to 40 - 50 inches and it fits in your hand. Estimated availability September 2005 at a street price of $800.
Every time I see a projector these days I wonder how well it will do for TV and home theater goodness.
I have an old crusty but very trusty and reliable Kodak LC-500 video projector. I bought it for $110 on eBay and although it is only about 250 lumens, we regularly watch movies in our backyard on a sheet draped from the gutter. A VERY nice 10' diagonal picture. Of course it needs to be very dark.
Since it used the same basic chassis as their carousel slide projectors, replacement bulbs are only $7 online.
If they are using LUX and Lumens interchangeably, then I'd say that this little projector would be fine for dark-room use. However at $800, you can find far brighter 1000-1500 Lumens for about the same price.
