OK. This is not exactly comparing apple to apples, more like apples to oranges, but this is my real world dilemma.
Personal Device: HP Ipaq Hx4705 - use for games, mp3's, video, wifi, personal scheduling, some work related scheduling, some doc editing. I use it every day, and really love my device.
Work issued device: Treo 650 with Internet Access, GSM phone, and work Lotus Notes enabled. Includes a camera which doesn't really excite me. However, with this thing, I could easily do everything I was doing with my Ipaq, but I'd have cut back on personal stuff like games and mp3's.
On one hand, I'd hate to carry around both these devices, but on the other, I would lose a bit of freedom letting go of my Ipaq. But I'm sure I could sell it prety quickly.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? (yes, I realize the question is subjective...)
Well, if the company purchased and required a certain device and it worked properly, then I'd probably need to go with that. Especially when you throw the Lotus Notes and GSM into it, will they even let you use a PPC? I need syncing in both places personally and if I was issued a palm and could not use my PPC due to workstation lockdown, I'd probably deal with using the palm only.
#1 rule of time management: Write down your schedule and tasks in one spot only It is very inefficient to carry more than one planner(PDA) around.
Well I know just how you feel. I own and carry both. I have had a Treo 650 for a few months and love it, however, I never liked the small screen for various programs. Sooooo, I just bought the 4705 and I love it! Just what I was looking for. I run applications and games, and pics, on the 4705 and use the Treo for the phone and push email (chatter mail is great). Nothing wrong with have the 2 best PDA's around!!!
