Hello all,
I read the user reviews of the Dell Axim X30 (w/624MHz Processor) and was impressed, so I bought a brand new one from a friend who bought it a couple months ago and never used it. However, the one 'con' most reviewers mentioned was the absence of a CF slot. It does, however, have a SD slot. Is this gonna be a huge detriment? I've seen some really cool add-ons made for CF slots, but not much seems to be available in the way of SD stuff.
I guess even with a less useful expansion slot, I still oughtta keep it since I paid $150 for it
Thanks!

Hi Shady and welcome to our forums.
Are you screwed? I'd have to see the device to make sure all is functioning properly. But everything else being equal, NO NO NO! That's a great price for a very powerful device. Are you sure you got the 624Mhz model? If so you "screwed" your friend
I made the adjustment from Compact Flash to SD just fine. I think you'll find that most of the more typical cards you'll use are available for SD. There are some odd cards for CF like TV Tuners, etc and the CF memory is cheaper and higher in capacity (see our 6GB mini drive post) But SD isn't too far behind.
P.S. the Axim X30 the device I use-love it! Why don't you hang around and let me know how you like it the more you use it.
Hi Brad,
Thanks for the welcome and the reassuring reply!
I've done nothing but play with this thing for a solid three hours since I picked it up earlier today... amazing technology. Yes, I did check and it is the 624 MHz version (and I can tell!). Great features in a nice, light form factor...
Thanks again and I'm sure to have a few more questions along the way...
Take care.

Congrats and welcome! You are only "screwed" if you need CF (as I do) and can not sell it. It is a very nice PDA and you will likely be very happy with it. If not, you can get more than you paid for it and put it toward one more to your liking. I personally will not buy to use a PDA without 2 slots but I am spoiled by the X5 I used for 2 years. I keep all apps on the SD and all media and accessories on CF. The only time this should matter to you is if you want to use an SD accessory (camera, etc...) and have to give up all that extended memory.
Enjoy!
Most of the things that are available in CF form-factor (Camera, GPS, X-Ray nuke detector) Are available in SD form too. A good way to check is search ebay using: "(sd, secure digital, securedigital) device" (Sans quotes) Replace the word device with what you're looking for (Camera, GPS, heated massage slippers) and hit search.
The parenthesees...parentesees...perenthesees...eees and commas tell eBay to show it all auctions containing one of those words and your device (I include all 3 because people tend to not know which is correct sometimes (Like myself))
Hope you can find all your devices you need, and have fun with your spiffy new Pocket PC (And pick me up an SD Automated Drink cooler if I helped)
That question is the bane of my existance. Currently I'm living with Pocket IE. If anyone can recommend a good browser I'd love to know too.
It seems a good pocket PC browser would be a gold mine if someone were to make one.
