Remember when we told you about a Secure Digital card that had a built-in USB port? We thought this would be a pretty cool addition for delete this those of us who transfer large files to and from our SD cards and don't wanna fiddle with ActiveSync timing out and erroring out as we put our memory hogging stuff on them. The only problem with the SD card we showed before was that it had this USB port sticking way out the top! This would make for awkward use. Can you imagine pocketing your device if it had that little tab sticking out all the time? There'd be almost no way to utilize your Pocket PC carry it around without breaking off the port in the first couple days... YMMV.
SanDisk however is come to the rescue or at least claims to be coming to the rescue with the new SD card that has the same USB port in it -- however this one is hidden beneath part of the SD card itself! As you can see it's a hinged operation that would give you access to the USB port yet still would allow you to insert it all the way into your Pocket PC. Sign me out! I think I'd be a great candidate for one of these! 'SanDisk is demonstrating at this week's CES tradeshow a prototype of an SD card that can also be be used with the USB port on a desktop or laptop.
This card can be put into any SD card slot, and then plugged directly into any USB port without needing an SD card reader.' via brighthand
Are you as excited as I am? I am sick of carrying around and external card reader just because I want to pull something off my SD card on to another computer. What to you all make of this?
