Pocket PC Thoughts has some info that Think Outside is shipping their BlueTooth Keyboard for those of you who want to ditch the connection and go wireless. It runs $149.99 currently. But they point out you can get virtually the same keyboard from Dell for only $106.21 shipped.
Personally, I don't mind having my device connected to a keyboard. I have to have it nearby anyway. It also seems like it might be a slight hassle to pair the keyboard and activate the connection every time I want to type an email or a forum post. But I guess I could be wrong. Is anyone using a BT keyboard who would like to educate me?
I currently have the HP folding keyboard and might be interested in this BT keyboard... why?
Well, first to at least get SOME use out of the built-in BT of my 2215.
Second, although I disliked IR keyboards (required line-of-sight), BT keyboards have more versatility. I can see where having the PPC in landscape orientation would be beneficial. But without on-the-fly orientation switching, it doesn't seem like landscape usage is all that convenient.
This is Definetly on my must-buy list. My plan is to get a BT adapter for the laptop, and use this as an extern. kb for both ppc and laptop universal devices! woo heheh
I know most people would think this is nuts, but I personally love laptop style kbs for coding/typing etc...
Bru...
You know, I just bought a keyboard for my PPC.
I thought long and hard on it and decided to go with infrared over bluetooth. Here's why...
1. Bluetooth is too much higher. About $40 to $50.
2. Bluetooth uses a lot more battery power on my PPC than infrared. My battery drains quickly while in Bluetooth mode.
There ya go...
I bought the Belkin with a built in mouse. I love it and it is pure sweetness man.
Later,

I have seen reports that the Stowaway BT keyboard does NOT work with the Socket CF card under WinXP and others have reported difficulties on a PPC. If you are using a Socket CF card then make sure you verify with someone who's also using it that it works.
The keyboard apparently uses a serial BT interface (for use with phones) that does not work with WinXP, which needs a HID profile. I'm not sure if Windows Mobile is using the serial interface, which would likely work.

I actually bought the Targus version of the IF keyboard. It was between it and the Belkin, but Targus won with the extra keys and the mouse.
Here's the link for it... http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PA870U

The Dell Keyboard looks like the Stowaway rebranded.

The only difference I can see is the Stowaway has that extra lip along the left hand side of the keyboard. (Usually where I store my stylus)....Ooooh, I'm getting excited...Toshiba is supposed to announce the e830 this week (please, please sell it in the US )

Well, I just purchased one of these Bluetooth Stowaway's today for my Ipaq H5555. It looks spiffy, is as small as they say, and has a nice carry case. That's about as good as my experience goes. Now, unless I have a problem with my H5555, I don't much care for it. It takes anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds to respond to a keystroke, and when it does respond it posts the strokes like a buffer. The Tab/esc key sticks often and it causes a lot of clicking traffic in the PDA itself. I have an email into Think Outside's technical support (the out of office auto reply said 3 days before they get back to me) wondering what is supposed to be acceptable. I checked their webside and the 3.1 version of drivers I have are current. Now unless something changes within that time frame, this nice, cute little piece of hardware will be going back to CompUSA with my being dissatisfied. BTW this is a duplicate post that I posted in another forum about the same hardware.
Well all, I just got an email back today from the support folks at Think Outside. It seems they have a new driver that wasn't avaliable yesterday. It's ver 4.0. After an initial cludge of installing, in which the installer doesn't recognize the fact that a previous driver is installed, it works great. Better make sure you remove the old version of the driver before installing the new one. The good side is that the new one adds BT Mouse support. Hmmmmm. Gotta try one of those.
Anyway, keyboard response is where it should be, now all I have to do is try to play some games using keyboard mapping to see how it really reacts.
Thanx.
