Imagine a printer that could handle 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of paper that you could slip easily into a purse or gear bag? Well, The Circular Printer is a concept being tossed around by Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd, Korea and Seoul National University, Korea. It is designed with the business traveler in mind and utilizes the circular motion to accomplish the printing instead of utilizing traditional linear printing methods. "This is a fresh and novel design solution to the long standing pursuit of printing anywhere, anytime. Focusing on making the printer compact and portable also broadens the possibilities for where printer technology can or should be pushed. This truly provokes, challenges, and sparks the imagination; a revolutionary design…literally. Samsung…please build this!" - Christopher Alviar, IDSA, Principal, CG/A via The Gadgeteer
My main questions would be what type of connection does it require and how fast is it?
Would you want one of these if the engineers could make it a reality?
I know I'd take a close look at it if it was able to print at comparable speeds of other portable printers. It looks like in this stage they probably wouldn't even be able to say how fast it will be and I would hope it has a few options on how to connect. Three in particular, IR, Bluetooth and USB.
I wouldn't want to try and print a 30 page contract on it. Doen't look like there will be a page feeder on it.
looks neat.

Hey, that's a good point that hadn't dawned on me originally. What about those 30 page contracts?
I could visualize possibly a ring expander and contractor method that allows you to place 10 sheets in at a time as long as it feeds the way it looks to feed in the picture. The top sheet would go through, while the others stay. -- maybe anyway.
Hmm... That would be neat but I'm having a hard time visualizing it. From what I can see (I could be wrong) it's a one at a time page printer with a stationary print head and the paper "twists" as it feeds though. Looks great for portability and if you need that 30 page contract then your already carrying a good bit of paper with you and can just get something more suited for that job.
But for that movie ticket you need to print from your Pocket PC while in the car before going in it's PERFECT! or that Prince concert.. or something that isn't a big job. I would like to see the price point below $150. Anyone elce? I know I'd perfer Black and white. Color wouldn't be the primary need for something like that imo. But I could be talking out of my rear
well since it is still at the concept stage, we can petition the engineers to do it right namely, Printing to more than one page without having to reload paper.

Personally for a printer that small I would choose lower price point over multi sheet printing. I do estimates and invoices on my PPC and would like to print them on site cheaply. B/W would be fine.
That printer would be great for my needs. I could provide invoices and estimates on the spot – whew, would that be nice! Color would not be of interest for me. As for multiple pages, well, this is about a convenient and easy to carry printer – multiple pages are not the point.
