In other Bluetooth news, a company called Alive Technologies has developed a new Bluetooth Heart Rate monitor for both consumer fitness and the screening, diagnosis and management of chronic diseases. This is really pretty cool. I like using heartrate monitors for biking because it's nice to get an idea if I am really getting a workout or just sweating hard. The trouble with the one I own and others on the market are they don't get enough range. For instance, my monitor will only work if the monitor is 1 foot or less from the digital receiver. Who can bike while their chest is practically lying over the handlebars? :? It's my guess however, that the cost of this device would be too high for my casual biking hobby. "Designed for use in the doctor's office, home or gym, the Alive monitor uses wireless Bluetooth and mobile phone networks to immediately transmit the medical information to a computer, PDA, or central monitoring centre. The product features the latest generation of Bluetooth wireless technology and new electrode technology for optimum signal quality." via Geekzone
Any comments?
So let me guess how this works.....you stand in front of a pretty girl exercising and hold a PPC...and they see how fast your heart rate goes...I think my heart rate would go higher with a brunette exercising rather than a blonde....but either way, it looks like a good workout.

Does anybody know where to get the Alive Heart Monitor in Europe? The guys from Alive Technologies don't answer if you send an inquiry. We're desperately looking for a Bluetooth heart monitor system for Run.GPS . For more information also see ongoing discussion in forum.
I'm also looking for such a device for a long time but unfortunately there's no response from Blatand or Alive. I've managed to find that the Blatand device was developed at a romanian university, I have contacted the project manager but even this way I wasn't able to get in direct contact with somebody from Blatand
