Gizmodo found that the new Microsoft Streets and Trips 2005 has been released. Not having used Streets and Trips in the past, we aren't too sure if the Pocket PC feature is new or not, or if they always included a GPS unit. But the package certainly includes them now. "Features:
• GPS support
Orient yourself on the road with a GPS device running NMEA 2.0 or later. Simply plug the device into your machine running Streets & Trips and see your location.
• Updated maps of the United States and Canada
More than 5.4 million miles of routable local, city, state, and highway roads in the United States and Canada—representing the 35,000+ U.S. and 700,000+ Canadian postal codes.
• Route Planner
With Route Planner, you can view, add, delete, and rearrange destinations. Route Planner also lets you set fuel costs, driving speed, and preferred routes.
• Find what's nearby
Locate more than 550,000 restaurants, 90,700 gas stations, 117,000 ATM locations, 7,950 golf courses, and much more.
• Road construction updates
Be aware of local construction and road closures through updated information that's available on the Web for easy download.
• Pocket Streets for your Pocket PC
With Microsoft Pocket Streets running on your Pocket PC or Smartphone, you can download maps or export an area from Streets & Trips 2005."

Silly me...I just bought 2004...
Anyways, the pocket PC side of streets has been around since 2002 (I think) and the gps functionality for pocket streets was added or upgraded in '03 (I think)
I'm so accurate, aren't I?
The worst part about pocket streets is no routing feature, I'll be buying delorme handheld so I'll write a comparison (With accurate info!)
Does anyone know if Streets and Trips 2005 will be bluetooth compatible?
My iPaq 2215 with HP bluetooth GPS receiver works great, but I am still looking for better mapping software.

You're probably not far off. I know pocket streets has been around since 2001 and MS released 2001 public (I believe in 2003). GPS support was added in 2003. ( Ithink they tried to patch it into 2002 as well). It has never had routing and because of that I only use it for in-town address locating.
In case anyone else has the same question I did about Streets and Trips 2005 and Bluetooth compatibility, I found that Pocket Streets 2005, my iPaq 2215, and my iPaq Bluetooth GPS receiver work very well together. Turn on the Bluetooth GPS unit first, then turn on the Bluetooth receiver in the handheld, then open Pocket Streets 2005 (the order is important).
The maps are accurate and easy to use, but other than tracking where you are, the functionality is limited. Other mapping programs such as PocketMap Navigator offer more functionality (but the maps are not as useful). Both programs have their usefulness, though.
