Brighthand is reporting that the FCC has okayed HP for release of a couple of new Ipaqs. In the same article they mention release to be in the July time frame along with the Ipaq 4700 which is rumored to have a VGA screen. Yay!!! There will be three models in the iPAQ rx3000 series. The major difference between them is the amount of memory.
The rx3700 will have 152 MB of memory available to the user, the rx3417 will have 88 MB, and the rx3415 will have 56 MB of user-accessible built-in storage.
According to earlier rumors, the rx3700 will use a 400 MHz processor, while the two rx3400 models will have a 300 MHz one, but this isn't confirmed by the user manual, which only says all of these will use a Samsung 2440 processor.
The rx3700 will come with a swappable 1440 mAh Lithium-ion battery, while the other two will have a swappable 920 mAh battery. Users who would like to extend their battery life will have the option of buying a 1440 mAh battery or a 2880 mAh one.

What they don't mention (and we do ) is that HP is aiming this as a portable media device. It has s/w built in that streams all forms of media two way on any WiFi network. (I read the manual). It also comes with remote control s/w to control all of your entertainment equipment. Sounds like a mobile Media Center to me.

Not that I've seen. It hasn't gotten FCC approval yet.

I think I have to change my original answer to the PPC Addict pool... I will not be buying a new PPC unit this summer. The perfect unit has not been released by any vendor.

Sorry, the pool answer cannot be changed and you MUST buy a new device this summer as promised.

Yes..I'm sorry Knelson. That was part of the fine print when you answered the pool question. You have approximately 6.5 months left to fulfill your obligation.
I don't know why, but I'm not getting my emails to notify me of replies...therefore I'm missing the conversations that are in progress.
