Kamikun pointed me in the direction of a brighthand forum about a third party battery maker for the Toshiba e805. According to the forum:
Quote:
Pricing is now completed and when they go on sale we will be selling them at: Mugen Batteries:
3800mAh for $94.95
2000mAh for $54.95 Toshiba's pricing:
2640mAh for $109
1320mAh for $49
I was also informed that the 3800mAh has been delayed in production by a technical glitch (business speak for someone pushed the wrong button and the QC guys screamed!) so they are being pushed out another two weeks. But the 2000mAh is still planned to begin selling by the 24th. I'll keep you posted if more news comes along.
The batteries will be available on eBay (user ID MEF38) until a web site is ready.
Would you purchase one of these batteries? I'm thinking of the 3800mah battery, but I would have to get a case that can hold it...like a bellagio case.

Heck yea. The "internal" battery is almost flush with the case and almost provides as much go juice as Toshiba's extended battery. I'm on that like dust mites on a just-applied screen protector!
A lot of users have been waiting for several months since they announced these and it's great they finally are appearing. Is that photo on the right the extended battery? If so making it half height like that will preclude using the Stowaway keyboard in landscape.

JK- I don't have a Stowawy so I'm just talkin' out loud here but are you sure that you couldn't use the keyboard? Remember that the battery is going to carry almost 70% the weight of the unit.
There are pictures at BH of the extended battery connected to the e800 and she lies perfectly flat when on her back (stop that sniggering) because most of her mass is below the hips. (ohh, the wife is gonna get me for this one.... perhaps I'm personifying my PPC a bit too much).
Seriously, why does it present a problem?
I'm not sure it does, yet. But, using the e805 with Toshiba extended battery in landscape with the keyboard works because the battery is almost as tall as the PPC so there's a flat surface sitting in the keyboard cradle. The IR keyboard cradle is a little flaky to begin with in landscape since it just uses this little metal bar to hold the PPC up. Maybe it will work fine but from that photo it looks like it will be canted at an angle for viewing.
