Remember when we posted about the "in ear" E3c earphones made by Shure and how people are somewhat reluctant to push things into our ears even if it means better sound? Well, PocketPCReviews has posted their review of a similar set of earphones - the EARS EM3 earphones from Future Sonics you should read it if you are thinking about one of these expensive pairs of earphones. Would you pay some $160 dollars for a set of earphones?
No, not for headphones but “just” for in-canal type earphones that you can use on your iPod or Digital Audio Player. While that may sound like a lot of money it may well be worthwhile if you can really hear the difference. We’re testing (very subjectively, I might add) the EARS EM3 Universal Fit Monitor Earphones from Future Sonics (FSI).
Future Sonics is a crowd that caters to the professionals with their custom-moulded ear monitors as well as these EM3 universal fit “personal monitors” (in this league you can’t just call them ear buds or earphones any more…)
Just check their very extensive list of clients, from Celine Dion to U2 and Cirque du Soleil and hundreds more. They must be onto something good here…
I'll have to wait until they come down. I can never seem to find in-ear phones that work with my ears. I have smaller ears, and the big Sennheisers I have want to pop right out b/c I can't really fit them in where they are supposed to go.
I hesitate to wear open air or over the ear phones on planes, and in public b/c I always feel like I am disturbing someone.
One of these days I'll invest in some nice ones, but not for $140. I already spend enough on my primary audio system as it is, so no need to go overboard with a portable one too.
I like the idea but I would not recommend walking around with these things in. I would hate to be walking and not hear a super quiet Cadillac until it was too late.
I played with a friends that were similar to these and they made me jumpy because I could not hear anything going on around me. He would say something and it would take a minute for me to realize that someone was talking to me, just not a good idea in public.
