This is probably a dream come true for those of you who use your Pocket PCs for movies and music. Pretec has just announced their new 12 Gig CF card that would hold 20 or more full length Pocket PC films or days worth of Audio. The card offers 300% larger capacity than any of it’s closest competitors in the world and will be priced at around $9999, to be delivered by 2nd half of 2004. "Pretec has been consistently demonstrated the highest capacity CF card in the world from 64MB (10/1998, New York, Microsoft Jupiter Launch), 80MB (1/1999, Las Vegas, CES), 128MB (3/1999, Hannover, CeBIT), 160MB (6/1999, Denver, Microsoft WinCE Dev. Conference), 320MB (4/2000, New York, Microsoft PocketPC Launch, partner with Casio), 640MB (5/2001, Partner with Kodak Professional and Ricoh), 1.5GB/2GB/3GB (11/2002, Las Vegas, Comdex), and 6GB (3/2003, Hannover, CeBIT). In addition to the excellent track record of Pretec’s relentless pursuit of innovation towards higher capacity, Pretec has also established the reliability reputation by becoming the only CF card supplier in the world which can provide industrial and military grade ruggedized CF cards constructed with precision mechanics, full metal protection, sustain a wide range ( -40℃~125℃) working temperature and offer ultimate level of data protection and security features to prevent user’s image files, software, crucial data and products from being damaged."
Sometime in the 2nd half of 2004:
"Oh no, I just lost all my data!"

Oh....I can just imagine that 2 second conversation: Me: I think I'm going to buy one of these new Compact Flash cards. My wife: Oh, that's nice...how much are they? Me: ehhh...hem.....there $9,999.00 Me again: No, really I want to buy one. Me again: Come on, come back here....I'm serious.... Me again: Hello, is anyone here.... Me again: Hmmmm....another Saturday by myself...

pretec could even market them as "Solitude Facilitator Devices". Company spokesperson: Would you like time away from your spouse on a Saturday? Tired of being nagged? Tell them you are going out to buy one of these cards 'just because' you want one.
Well, if youre a paparazzi photographer, or one of those propaganda maker journalist working for the three letter media&broadcat giant, then buying $10000 CF card is peanut, compared to the money you can squeeze (blackmail?) out of the data/pictures stored in that $10000 CF

Wow!
See I keep hoping that these will catch up to the bloated software out there. I would love to have some of these in my audio PC because they make zero noise, and generate zero heat. I can turn my case fans off.
By the time I can afford one though, Windows ZX will require a minimum of 41 GIGS to install.
I installed a game the other night. It was THREE GIGS installed. And how long have they been putting DVD drives in PC's? YEARS! And this game comes on FIVE COMPACT DISCS. ? ? ? ?
Sorry, this turned into a mini-rant. I can't believe it's only Tuesday.
