Hey guys I've been using a sidekick 2 for a few good months now and its gotten me addicted to using the internet on the go. I work 10 hour days and prolly spend at least 3 or 4 of those hours riding in a truck.
So needless to say I've gotten bored with the sidekick and want something to keep me a little more entertained =P.
So basically I'm asking you gurus of the ppc for suggestions on my next mobile. I do use tmobile and would like my next device to be able to: play nes/ snes games, surf the internet well, work well as a phone, play mp3s, and I guess those are the main points.
Also I was wondering if any of these devices could support a really basic 2d mmorpg like this game I'm addicted to- www.odysseyclassic.com . I think it was coded in visual basic like 5 or 6 years ago so its not really advanced or anything.
Thanks for any tips/advice/suggestions, I'm gettin tired of this sidekick =D
Well can't I get an unlocked version of that and use tmobile? Or does it not work like that? Also can the mda actually smoothly run snes games w sound? And does anybody know if I could install a windows app like that online game client in my post? That'd be awesome w/ wifi at my school
You can get an unlocked version of the 8125 and use it for your tmobile service. As far as playing SNES games, you will have to download an SNES emulator and run game apps off that. I'm not sure how "smooth" or "un-smooth" it will run. That depends on the memory that's left on the phone. It should work just fine though. If you don't want to go the routte of buying an unlocked 8125 (which can be pricey), the I would suggest the MDA. It's virtually the same phone.
ud actually be going out of your way if u got the 8125 considering that the mda is the exact same phone. I play snes using pocket snes and it plays alright (depending on the game) and theres no sound. but, I also have a nes emulator and it plays perfectly with sound. I hear if u overclock the phone, the sound will play just fine on snes...
the 8525 is comin out in a month or so...and it has double the processing speed, so it shoud be perfect...
HI guys,
I am new so hello.
I just got my 8125 and have been reading through the threads here.
I see that many users recommend using spb plus, however, when I load it on my device i get an error saying that it is not a valid ppc app.
Has anyone else experience this?
Also, anyone know the name of a good gps or map ala msn maps type software? There are many torrentz out there with plenty of applications but I am unsre on what to get.
most likly because you downloaded the install file, and then trnasferd the install file to the phone... instead, plug in your phone and install the file on your computwer and it will automatically install onto your phone.
yea thats the next thing i tried but got a " cannot find RAPI.dll" error.
i guess i need to get that driver. after that message i took a break. perahps you need xp? im running server 2003
I got mine from ebay, which you have to be careful of, but I got a good deal. It was new, not refirbished and it was 385.00 total including shipping, that is without a contract. If you get a contract through cingular it's a little cheaper. If you buy it outright through cingular, its about 550.00 to 585.00 in Illinois where I'm from.
