Hello everyone! This is my first post and am glad to be part of this forum! I am still waiting for my Cingular 8125 to arrive in the mail. This will be my first PDA phone device. I have a question about the Internet and WiFi.
Is it possible to surf the web using my WiFi connection for free? Or will I have to purchase a feature through Cingular to do this? It seems the Data features Cingular offers are somewhat pricey and I would love a way around this. Any information on the subject is well received.
I am finding lots of great information on this site.....Thank you!

Welcome OffshoreThomas! to Pocket Pc Addict one of the great online community...
That's a nice pocket pc, for your questions well let me explain it in a simple way i know. Yes you will be able to surf the internet using your wifi connection, if it's free well it really depends on the owner of that Access Point if the security is off then likely it's free, you can find most of this in Coffee shops, hotel lobby and even some Airports are not offering it for free at waiting area.
The data you are referring to is EDGE/GPRS connection, you can also use this to connect to the internet but as you said cingular offer it a bit pricey.

Thank you Murduck for the information! WiFi internet is free (depending on the owner of a paticular Access Point), and EDGE/GPRS requires a data plan with Cingular. Got it! It seems the more I read and learn about the 8125, the more impressed I am. I hope it holds up to my expectations! Thank you again!
Glad to be at service...
Here's another way to surf the internet using your pocket pc, this is via active sync, if your pc that have internet connection you can use Active sync to pass though the connection to your pocket, the best way to enjoy this is use bluetooth connection to sync.
