A recent timetable of Microsoft’s plans for the next couple versions of its Windows Mobile platform has leaked out. The idea is to have a Dual OS plan, having both 6.5 (which was first introduced back in Feb) and 7 in the market. 6.5 is estimated to be released on Oct. 1st. One of the major differences between 6.1 and 6.5 is this newer is more finger friendly. Other features are still not known. Windows Mobile 7 is expected to be released sometime in the 4th quarter of 2010. Windows 7 is not considered a replacement for 6.5, but rather a up scaled version. 6.5 will be offered to licensees at a lower cost. A Taiwanese Smartphone manufacturer is quoted as saying that WM7 is to compete with the iPhone, while 6.5 will be used to compete with Android.
