Samsung has developed a new folding keyboard system that uses two folding half QWERTY keyboards. The two ends can be folded back into the handset to provide dual functionality with the touch screen. With the new winged design, there is still a lot of skepticism as to how this will hold up in the texting age. Also, I wonder how they will reduce bulkiness on the side keyboards without making the two wings feel flimsy and breakable. It is still an interesting design and I'm glad to see they are finally coming up with hybrid designs like these. I've seen far too many BlackBerry users convert to iPhones and then convert back to BlackBerry mainly due to its keyboard.
If Samsung successfully combines comfort, usability, and stability in this design, it might just be a hit. The keyboard plays such a huge role in a smartphones survival in the marketplace and with a touchscreen too as well, I hope they get this right!
