Sprint Nextel Corp finally is thinking. They are considering of dropping the Nextel part off of its name. The move will definitely prove that acquiring Nextel was a failure to Sprint's part. However, that sure will get rid of a lot of troubles that Sprint had gained recently.
No deals or anything is clear. It's just a talk and discussions that has been an ongoing process with some people at Sprint. Of course, this is not something we have received from Sprint. It's actually from Wall Street Journal.
If they decided to give up Nextel, they'll also dodge the bullet that FCC is threatening on them. Nextel is using the same frequency with some law enforcement agencies. Mainly the fire departments'. They have been warned many times and lately threaten to be axed if nothing is done soon.
I guess this is how Sprint is dealing with its problem; axing it.
Engadget also mentioned that if Sprint does axe its Nextel acquisition, it'd only sweeten the deal for T-Mobile if they ever think of acquiring Sprint.
