Congratulations! Spike Lee is hiring... sorta. However, he can and will (might) be able to get a use out of us! How? He's teaming up with Nokia that he'll make a film ENTIRELY shot by cellphone footage!
Well, obviously, we're not going to see Spike walking around NY shooting with his N95 or anything like that. However, he's looking to use the footage from regular users like us. He's attempting to "democratize film" by developing a movie based entirely out of user-submitted cellphone footage.
The film will focus on "the way music tells the story of humanity" and consists of three acts based on "assignments" posted on the project website. After each "assignment" has been posted, participants have 4 weeks to finish it and send it over.
If you're liking the way things sound, text, music, video and pho subimssions are being accepted between now and August 21st. Nokia will be doing the choosing though. Only 25 of them will be chosen per "assignments". Everything will be posted on the website and people (like all of us) get to choose which are the top 10 we like! Chances are, Nokia'll only pick the ones with Nokia devices. After all of those stuff, Spike Lee will be doing the choosing for the one he's using!
